Over the past few years, flight
training in Canada has become more attractive to foreign students.
The Canadian licence is well respected world-wide, and due to
rigorous training requirements, is in most cases easily converted
to a licence from another country. For example, on the basis of
your Canadian Private Pilot Licence, you may obtain a US Private
Pilot Licence with no additional flight or ground testing. With
the Canadian dollar (now approximately $0.84 US) and with the
North American Free Trade Agreement in place, the large cost differental
between training in the US and in Canada has all but disappeared.
Flight training in Canada is a bargain when compared to the cost
of training in other countries.
Currently, Kamloops airport does not require
the payment of landing fees and no air traffic control fees are
charged. Housing in Kamloops is much less expensive compared to
major centers, and transportation is affordable and convenient.
We would be happy to help arrange for housing should you need.
While the range of options is great, as a rough approximation,
you should expect to pay about $800/month for lodging, food and
transportation while living in Kamloops. For additional information
on the city, please visit the Kamloops
web page.
While you are not required to be a Canadian
Citizen or Landed Immigrant to hold a Canadian licence, you will
likely be required to hold a student visa to train in Canada.
We will be happy to assist you in obtaining your visa where we
can. For further information on obtaining a student visa, please
contact Immigration
Canada where you will find booklets and application forms
for downloading in Adobe Acrobat format.
